Samenstrukturen

Samenstrukturen is a Dutch-language term used to describe how the parts of a system are organized and interact to produce coherent function. The word combines samen- "together" with structuren "structures," signaling attention to patterns of connection, dependency, and communication across components. Although the expression is not tied to a single formal theory, it is employed across disciplines to analyze how arrangement at different scales influences behavior and resilience.

In biology and medicine, samenstrukturen refer to tissue and organ architecture—the arrangement of cells, extracellular matrix, vascular networks, and signaling interactions that enable development, tissue maintenance, and response to injury.

In materials science and engineering, the term is used for microstructures such as grain distribution, phase boundaries, porosity, and defects, which govern mechanical, thermal, and electronic properties of materials.

In social sciences and organizational studies, samenstrukturen describe networks of collaboration and governance—the way teams, departments, and institutions connect, coordinate, and adapt to changing workloads or environments.
