Rozíenost

Rozíenost is a rare medical condition characterized by the abnormal development or presence of additional, usually supernumerary, eye structures within or near the orbit of the eye. The term derives from Greek roots, with "rozi" meaning "dawn" or "break of day," and "enost" relating to intraosseous or internal structures, reflecting the condition's developmental nature.

Often considered a form of ocular or orbital ectopia, rozíenost can present as extra ocular tissue, additional eyelids, or abnormal ocular remnants. The condition may be congenital, arising from anomalies during embryonic development, or acquired due to trauma or neoplastic processes. The precise etiology remains unclear, but genetic and environmental factors are under investigation.

Clinically, individuals with rozíenost may experience visual disturbances, cosmetic concerns, or no symptoms at all, depending on the severity and location of the malformation. Diagnosis typically involves clinical examination, imaging techniques such as ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to delineate the extent of abnormal tissue.
