Remmatten
Remmatten is a term found in some Dutch-language automotive texts that refers to brake pads, the friction components inside disc brake assemblies. In modern usage, the more common Dutch terms are remblokjes or remblokken, while remmatten appears mainly in historical or regional texts. Brake pads are mounted in brake calipers and pressed against spinning rotors when the brakes are applied, converting kinetic energy into heat to slow or stop a vehicle. They consist of a backing plate bonded to a friction material, sometimes with wear indicators to signal replacement.
