RFtehnika

RFtehnika, or radio frequency technology, is the branch of engineering that deals with devices and systems that operate on radio frequencies, roughly from a few kilohertz to tens or hundreds of gigahertz. The field covers the design, analysis, and manufacture of components that generate, process, transmit, receive, and interpret RF signals. Core elements include antennas and propagation paths, RF front-ends, mixers, amplifiers, filters, modulators, demodulators, oscillators, and frequency synthesizers. Impedance matching, noise figure, linearity, and power efficiency are key performance metrics.

RFtehnika encompasses both analog and digital signal processing at RF, as well as multidisciplinary topics such as microwave engineering, electromagnetics, and RF integrated circuit design. It often involves trade-offs between gain, bandwidth, selectivity, energy consumption, and physical size. Design can be performed using circuit theory, electromagnetic simulations, and measurement-based validation.

Typical applications include wireless communications (cellular networks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC), broadcast transmission (FM, TV), radar and navigation systems, satellite links, RFID and wireless sensing, and increasingly automotive and industrial IoT systems. Frequency bands are allocated by regulatory bodies and standards organizations; practical design must consider regulatory limits on emission, spurious signals, and safety.

Common development tools include vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, RF/microwave CAD tools, and RF test benches. Education in RFtehnika is part of electrical engineering curricula and is closely linked to telecommunications and microwave engineering.
