Risk factors include smoking, obesity, hypertension, and certain inherited conditions such as von Hippel-Lindau disease. This combination provides enhanced strength and durability for bearing loads, bending moments, and shear forces. RCCs are commonly used in columns, beams, slabs, and foundations. Design follows structural codes that account for material properties, reinforcement detailing, and exposure conditions. Construction involves placing steel reinforcement inside formwork and pouring concrete, followed by proper curing and quality control to ensure adequate bonding and long-term performance.
