Puidupaneele

Puidupaneele are wooden panels used for interior cladding, walls, ceilings and furniture surfaces. They can be made from solid wood boards, layered wood products such as plywood or laminated boards, and may feature a wood veneer or decorative laminate on the surface. The term covers both solid wood panels and engineered panels with a wood face.

Common panel types include flat panels, tongue-and-groove boards, and interlocking systems such as shiplap or clip-in profiles. Finishes vary from unfinished or lightly treated to stained, painted or varnished surfaces. The aesthetic value of wooden panels lies in their natural grain, warmth and texture, and they can contribute to acoustic quality and a degree of thermal comfort.

Installation typically involves fixing panels to walls or ceilings using nails, screws or adhesives, with attention to allowing for expansion and contraction due to changes in humidity. Substrates should be clean, flat and dry, and gaps or joints are often addressed with trim or molding. Moisture management is important; in damp environments, moisture-resistant variants and protective coatings are recommended.

Materials used for puidupaneele range from solid timbers such as oak or pine to engineered options like plywood, medium-density fiberboard (MDF) or high-density fiberboard (HDF), sometimes with a veneer or decorative laminate face. Thicknesses commonly range from about 6 to 20 millimeters, depending on function and profile.

Maintenance involves regular cleaning with a soft cloth and avoiding excessive moisture. Periodic refinishing or resealing may be needed to preserve appearance and protect against moisture. Sustainability considerations include sourcing from responsibly managed forests and choosing products with appropriate certifications (for example FSC or PEFC).
