Proxya

Proxya is an open-source proxy software and protocol designed to route internet traffic through a configurable network of proxy servers. It aims to provide privacy, access control, and performance for developers and organizations by enabling traffic to be proxied, filtered, and load-balanced.

Developed by the Proxya Project with contributions from the community, proxya is distributed as free software. The reference implementation is released under an open-source license and is available on public repositories. The project emphasizes modularity and pluggable components.

Architecture and components: The system comprises a proxya-client library used by applications, proxya-server instances that terminate and forward traffic, and a central directory plus policy engine that governs routing decisions. A control plane coordinates authentication, proxy selection, and policy enforcement across distributed deployments.

Features include multi-protocol support for HTTP, HTTPS, and SOCKS5; TLS termination and optional mutual TLS; flexible authentication methods; policy-based routing; load balancing and connection pooling; and observability features such as metrics and logs.

Deployment and use cases: Proxya can be deployed on-premises or in cloud environments, integrated into CI/CD pipelines, and used for privacy-preserving browsing, access control, or traffic shaping in enterprise networks. It is designed to operate behind NAT and in containerized environments.

Security and privacy: All proxy traffic can be encrypted in transit using TLS. The project advocates minimal logging and providing configurable audit trails. Users must configure access controls and monitor for abuse, as misconfiguration or misuse can compromise privacy or system integrity.
