Projektityö

Projektityö is a form of educational assignment widely used in Finnish higher education and professional training in which students plan, execute, and report on a practical project within a defined topic or problem area. It often spans several weeks and may be completed individually or in small groups. The work emphasizes applying theoretical knowledge to real-world or simulated problems and producing tangible deliverables.

Typical elements include a project proposal or plan, a progress log, a mid-term evaluation, final report, and a presentation or demonstration. Methods may include literature review, data collection, experimentation, design, testing, and analysis. Project management practices such as goal setting, milestones, risk assessment, and resource planning are commonly used. Supervisors or tutors guide the project but provide increasing autonomy.

Assessment is usually based on a rubric that considers the clarity of the problem statement, the appropriateness of the chosen methodology, the validity of results or produced artifacts, critical thinking, written and oral communication, and teamwork (in group projects). Ethical considerations and quality standards are often required.
