Design and operation emphasize reliability, safety, and efficiency. Energy use, emissions, waste management, and material efficiency are increasingly prioritized through lean practices, sustainable design, and circular economy concepts.

Trends and challenges. Modern facilities leverage automation, robotics, data analytics, and digital twins to improve flexibility and uptime. Adaptation to changing demand, product changes, and regulatory requirements remains a key focus for producers worldwide.
