ProModelle

ProModelle is a term used in design and engineering contexts, particularly in German-speaking regions, to describe professional models created to represent, test, or communicate a concept. The word combines pro, meaning professional or advanced, with Modell(e), the plural of Modell (model). In practice, ProModelle refer to representations that aim to provide meaningful fidelity for evaluation, presentation, or manufacturing planning beyond simple sketches or ideation boards.

ProModelle can denote physical models, digital simulations, or hybrid builds. They range in fidelity from low-fidelity concept models used for early feedback to high-fidelity prototypes that closely resemble the intended product in form, size, and appearance. Some ProModelle are functional enough to test fit and ergonomics, while others serve primarily as visual or communicative tools.

Production methods include 3D printing, CNC machining, traditional hand assembly, and advanced rapid prototyping. Digital ProModelle rely on CAD data, rendering, and virtual testing.
