Polüuretaanpulberkatte, often referred to as PU powder coating, is a type of protective and decorative finish applied in powder form. This coating is based on polyurethane chemistry, which is known for its durability, flexibility, and resistance to chemicals and abrasion. Unlike liquid coatings, polyurethane powder coatings do not contain solvents, making them an environmentally friendly option with zero volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions during application.

The application process typically involves spraying the finely ground powder onto a substrate, usually metal, which is then heated in an oven. The heat causes the powder particles to melt, flow together, and cure into a continuous, smooth, and durable film. This film provides excellent adhesion and can be formulated to achieve a wide range of finishes, including high gloss, matte, textured, and metallic effects.

Polyurethane powder coatings are valued for their superior mechanical properties. They offer good impact resistance and are less prone to chipping or cracking compared to some other coating types.
