Planterige is a fictional municipality commonly used in urban planning simulations and world-building exercises. The name is drawn from Dutch roots meaning a place associated with cultivation, reflecting its agricultural character in the fictional landscape.

Geography and setting: It lies in a temperate zone, about 180 square kilometers in size, with a central town surrounded by farmland, a small forest, and a man-made lake along the northern river. The terrain is relatively flat, with gentle rises near the foothills to the south.

History: Planterige developed in the late 19th century around an irrigation canal and expanded through farming, dairy production, and light industry. The town hall dates to the early 20th century, and the community built a modest civic footprint around market squares, churches, and schools.

Economy: The local economy combines agriculture (grain, vegetables, dairy) with logistics and light manufacturing. A weekly farmers market remains a focal point of the town center, supporting local producers and residents.

Demographics and governance: The population is around 14,000, composed of families, farmers, and service workers. The official language is Planterigian—an imagined regional language—alongside a local dialect. Governance is provided by a municipal council led by a mayor, and Planterige is part of a larger district with elections every four years.

Infrastructure and culture: Road connections link Planterige to a regional highway, and a railway station on the Linia line serves regional travel. A bus network and cycling routes are common, while there is no airport or seaport; the lake hosts a small harbor. Key sites include the Planterige Church, the Old Granary Museum, and Planterige Park.

Education: Planterige Primary School serves children aged 6–12; secondary education is available in neighboring towns.
