PiP

Pip is a term with multiple uses across literature, computing, finance, and media. In literature, Pip is the central character of Charles Dickens's novel Great Expectations, published in 1860–61. An orphan raised by his sister and her husband, Pip's ambitions and loyalties drive the plot and its exploration of class and identity.

In computing, pip is the Python package installer, a command-line tool used to install and manage Python packages from the Python Package Index (PyPI). It is commonly used with commands such as "pip install package," "pip uninstall package," and "pip list." Pip typically comes bundled with Python 3.4 and later, and can be installed separately for older versions.

In finance, a pip (percentage in point) is a unit of change in a currency pair's exchange rate. For most pairs, one pip equals 0.0001 of the quote, while for pairs involving the Japanese yen it equals 0.01.

In media and display technology, Picture-in-Picture (PiP) is a feature that allows a video to be shown in a small window while other content remains visible on the screen.

Other uses of the acronym PIP include Personal Injury Protection in auto insurance and Performance Improvement Plan in corporate HR, among other meanings.
