Penetraatiotestin, often referred to as penetration testing or ethical hacking, is a simulated cyber attack against a computer system, network, or web application to evaluate its security. The purpose is to identify vulnerabilities that malicious actors could exploit. Testers use the same tools and techniques as real attackers but do so with the explicit permission of the system owner. This process helps organizations understand their security posture and take corrective actions before actual breaches occur.
