PIpositive

PIpositive is a software platform and methodological framework for quantifying and communicating Positive Impact (PI) across organizations and projects. It provides a standardized set of metrics, data collection tools, and reporting formats intended to support corporate social responsibility, philanthropy, and social-purpose enterprises. The goal is transparent, comparable impact reporting that can be integrated with financial reporting.

The project originated from a collaboration among universities, NGOs, and social enterprises in the mid-2010s, with the first public release in 2018. It is maintained by the PIpositive Foundation, a governance body that coordinates updates, best practices, and community contributions. The framework is designed to be platform-agnostic and open to improvement through peer review.

Measurement in PIpositive centers on a PI score ranging from 0 to 100. The score derives from three core pillars: Social Impact, Environmental Stewardship, and Economic Sustainability. Each pillar comprises multiple indicators and sub-mactors, with weighting that organizations can adjust to reflect context. All calculations are accompanied by audit trails and versioned methodology.

Key features include modular data collection, integration with existing ERP and CSR systems, API access, and exportable reports aligned with international standards such as GRI and SDGs. The platform supports third-party verification and offers dashboards for stakeholders, including investors, beneficiaries, and regulators.

Adoption has grown in multinational companies, non-governmental organizations, and impact funds. Critics note that results can be sensitive to data completeness and methodological choices, underscoring the need for transparent disclosures and independent verification.
