Osanyin
Osanyin is a deity revered in the traditional religions of the Yoruba people of southwestern Nigeria and in the Fon and Ewe cultures of Benin and Togo. The name Osanyin (sometimes spelled Asan) is often interpreted to mean “the owner of herbs” or “the one who shows the way to medicine.” He is associated with the natural world, especially with plants and the medicinal knowledge that can be derived from them. In Yoruba cosmology, Osanyin is also linked to the forest spirits, the hidden knowledge of nature, and the protective function of herbal medicine.
