Norlandia

Norlandia is a fictional sovereign state commonly depicted in speculative fiction as a northern temperate country. Its capital and largest city is Nordhaven, and the official language is Norlandic. The country has a population of about 6.2 million and covers roughly 115,000 square kilometers. Its geography features a rugged coastline, extensive forests, and a system of inland fjords and rivers, contributing to a maritime economy.

Norlandia operates as a constitutional monarchy with a ceremonial monarch and a parliamentary government. The head of government is the prime minister, who leads a multi-party cabinet. The legislature is bicameral, comprising the Senate and the Assembly. The constitution guarantees civil liberties, an independent judiciary, and a rule of law. Subnational divisions include six provinces.

The economy is diversified and highly developed, with services forming the largest sector, followed by manufacturing and natural-resource industries. Key exports include timber, machinery, ships, and seafood. The country prioritizes renewable energy, drawing on hydropower, wind, and biomass, and maintains a high standard of living and strong social welfare programs.

Ethnic Norlanders make up the majority, with minority communities contributing to the cultural landscape. Norlandic and several minority languages are spoken, with high literacy and education levels.
