Nordhalan is a fictional northern nation in a Nordic-inspired setting. It encompasses a mainland coast and numerous offshore islands, with a climate that ranges from subarctic winters to cool, wet summers. The landscape features fjords, conifer forests, and highland plateaus, with most settlements clustered along harbors and river valleys.

It operates as a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system. The monarch is a largely ceremonial head of state, while an elected unicameral parliament selects a prime minister who heads the government. The legislature uses proportional representation, and elections occur every four years. The judiciary is independent, and the constitution guarantees civil liberties and local self-government.

Nordhalan is divided into ten counties and several autonomous coastal communities. The capital and largest city is Frosthaven, a major port and educational hub; Skaldfjord is another important center of commerce.
