Nordarias

Nordarias is a fictional sovereign state located in the northern part of the world of Aeloria. It features a varied coastline, a boreal to temperate climate, and a landscape of fjords, coniferous forests, and highland plateaus. The capital and largest city is Nordhaven, a major port and administrative hub. The population is about two million, with Nordarian as the official language and several minority languages spoken in border regions.

Nordarias operates as a parliamentary republic. The president serves as the ceremonial head of state, while the prime minister leads the government, supported by a cabinet drawn from a unicameral Assembly with around 120 seats elected every four years by proportional representation. The judiciary is independent, and civil liberties are broadly protected.

Key economic sectors include commercial fisheries, forestry, mining (nickel and copper), and renewable energy, notably hydroelectric and wind power. Nordarias maintains a modest manufacturing base and a growing technology and services sector. The currency is the Nordarian krona (NRK), and the country aligns its trade policy with regional partners through a network of bilateral and multilateral agreements.

Society emphasizes education and social welfare. Education is compulsory through secondary level and publicly funded, with universities concentrated in Nordhaven and regional centers. Healthcare provides universal coverage. Cultural life draws on maritime heritage, literature, music, and seasonal festivals, while environmental stewardship is a recurring public concern due to the country’s extensive coastline and protected landscapes.

Historically, Nordarias formed early settlements and achieved political unity in the late medieval period, later evolving into a constitutional framework in the 20th century. It maintains stable relations with neighboring regions and participates in regional organizations focused on trade, climate resilience, and maritime safety.
