Neliöaalt, also known as the square wave, is a fundamental waveform characterized by its distinct, rectangular shape composed of alternating high and low voltage levels. It is a type of non-sinusoidal periodic signal commonly used in electrical engineering, signal processing, and digital systems. The square wave's defining feature is its abrupt transitions between its maximum and minimum values, creating a series of evenly spaced, rectangular pulses.

This waveform is frequently employed in digital electronics as a clock or timing signal because of its sharp transitions, which facilitate synchronization.
