Ndërprerjeve are Albanian plural noun forms that refer to occurrences in which a process, event, or communication is disrupted or halted temporarily. The root word ndërpreri means “to interrupt” or “to break off.” In everyday usage the term can describe anything from a sudden pause in a phone conversation to a temporary halt in a manufacturing line. The concept is also significant in technical contexts, especially in telecommunications and computer science, where it denotes specific mechanisms that manage and respond to interruptions.

In telecommunications, ndërprerjeve describe signal interruptions caused by noise, line faults, or handover failures. These disruptions can lead to dropped calls or data loss if not properly managed by error‑correction protocols. In computer architecture, the term is closely related to hardware interrupts. An interrupt is a signal that temporarily suspends the normal flow of a processor’s tasks to address higher‑priority operations such as input/output handling or system maintenance. The processor saves its state, executes the interrupt service routine, and then resumes the original task with minimal latency. This technique allows systems to remain responsive to external events while maintaining the execution of background processes.
