Näyttöpäätelaite
A Näyttöpäätelaite, often translated as "display terminal" or "video display terminal" (VDT), is a piece of computer hardware used to interact with a computer system. It typically consists of a screen, a keyboard, and sometimes a mouse or other input devices. The primary function of a näyttöpäätelaite is to display information processed by the computer and to allow users to input commands or data. Early terminals were "dumb terminals," meaning they had very little processing power of their own and relied entirely on the main computer for processing. Modern näyttöpäätelaitteet are often integrated into personal computers, where the screen and keyboard are part of the same unit, or they can be separate devices connected wirelessly or via cables. The evolution of näyttöpäätelaitteet has seen a shift from monochrome text-based interfaces to high-resolution color graphics and touchscreens, significantly enhancing user experience and the capabilities of computer interaction. They remain a fundamental component of computing, bridging the gap between human users and the complex operations of a computer.
