Muskeloverskudd is a Swedish term that translates to "muscle surplus" or "muscle excess." It refers to a state where an individual has developed a greater amount of muscle mass than is typically considered average or necessary for their frame and general functional needs. This can be achieved through dedicated and consistent resistance training over an extended period.

Individuals with significant muskeloverskudd often have visibly larger and more defined musculature. This is a result of hypertrophy, the process where muscle fibers increase in size due to stress and subsequent repair. The pursuit of muskeloverskudd is commonly associated with bodybuilding and strength sports, where increased muscle size and strength are primary goals.
