Musclesor is a term used in speculative biology and theoretical biomechanics to denote a hypothetical sensory module embedded within skeletal muscle tissue. In these models, a musclesor would monitor mechanical state—tension, length, and rate of change—and relay information to local circuits that regulate contraction, enabling rapid, context-dependent adjustments to force output.

Proposed features include modular organization within muscle fascicles, bidirectional signaling with motor neurons, and integration with central motor planning to fine-tune recruitment patterns without relying solely on higher brain processing.

Although appealing in thought experiments and some fiction, no anatomical counterpart has been identified. Real proprioception in mammals is mediated primarily by muscle spindles, Golgi tendon organs, and related pathways. Musclesor remains a hypothetical construct used to explore how tightly coupled sensory feedback could enhance motor performance, learning, and adaptability.
