Multikleurmachines

Multikleurmachines is a term used in Dutch-language manufacturing and printing contexts to describe machines that can handle multiple colors in a single production cycle. These machines integrate several color modules, print heads, or dyeing units to apply distinct colors to a product without requiring separate setup for each color.

Most multikleurmachines use parallel or cascaded color channels, with independent drives for each color channel, and a central control system for color registration and color management. In printing, this may involve multi-head inkjet arrays or offset/flexo stations; in textile and material processing, it may use dye application modules, screen arrays, or pigment/toner dispensers. Modern systems often include automated color calibration, ICC profiles, and swatch-based color matching to ensure consistency across runs.

Applications span packaging, graphic arts, textile design, and industrial labeling, where short runs and customization make switching colors quickly advantageous. They allow simultaneous application of CMYK and additional spot colors, or multiple dye colors, enabling complex color schemes without frequent machine downtime.

Advantages include reduced changeover time, improved production flexibility, and the ability to run variable-color jobs. Limitations include higher equipment costs, increased maintenance, and potential color accuracy challenges across different materials or substrates.
