Pigmenttoner refers to the coloring agent used in laser printers and photocopiers. Unlike liquid ink found in inkjet printers, toner is a dry powder composed of finely ground plastic particles, pigments, and other additives. These components are carefully selected to ensure proper adhesion, melting, and color reproduction. The pigments, often carbon black for black toner and various organic or inorganic compounds for colored toners, provide the color.

During the printing process, a laser beam selectively discharges a charged drum, creating an electrostatic image. Toner particles, which are also electrostatically charged, are attracted to the discharged areas on the drum. This toner image is then transferred to the paper. Subsequently, the paper passes through a fuser unit, where heat and pressure melt the plastic particles in the toner, fusing them permanently to the paper fibers.

The composition of pigmenttoner is critical for print quality, durability, and the lifespan of printer components. Different toner formulations exist for various printer models and applications, balancing factors such as resolution, gloss, and environmental impact. The manufacturing process for toner involves grinding, milling, and sometimes chemical processes to achieve the precise particle size and characteristics required for optimal performance.
