Multifactored is an adjective used to describe something that is determined by or affected by several factors. It emphasizes that outcomes result from the interaction of multiple causes rather than a single determinant.

Although easily understood, multifactored is less common in formal scientific writing than multifactorial, which is the preferred term for describing processes or conditions with multiple contributing factors. Multifactored appears more often in general prose or as a variant spelling in some editions and fields.

In medicine and health sciences, conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and mental health disorders are described as multifactored or multifactorial, reflecting the interplay of genetics, lifestyle, environment, and social determinants. In economics and public policy, analyses may be multifactored, incorporating costs, benefits, distributional effects, and externalities. In risk assessment, multifactored models attempt to integrate diverse variables from biology, behavior, environment, and society.

Limitations include the challenge of isolating the contributions of individual factors and distinguishing correlation from causation. The term is often used interchangeably with multifactorial; choosing one reflects stylistic preference or disciplinary convention.
