Muis
Muis is the Dutch word for mouse, a small mammal in the order Rodentia. In biology, a muis refers to a member of the family Muridae, with the most familiar species being the common house mouse (Mus musculus). House mice are widely distributed in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas and commonly live in close proximity to humans. Mice are generally small, with a pointed snout, rounded ears, and a long tail. They are omnivorous, feeding on seeds, grains, fruits, and insects. They are mostly nocturnal and social, living in groups and building nests. Reproduction is rapid: females can have several litters per year, with a gestation period of about 19-21 days and litters of up to a dozen offspring. In the wild, lifespans are often around one year, though many survive longer in protected environments.
Muis also denotes the computer mouse, a pointing device used to interact with graphical user interfaces. Early
