Monimoottorisia (Finnish for "multi-engine") refers to aircraft equipped with more than one piston engine, typically used in general aviation, military, and some commercial applications. These aircraft are designed to enhance safety, performance, and reliability compared to single-engine models, particularly in challenging conditions such as crosswinds, high altitudes, or adverse weather.

The most common configuration for monimoottorisia aircraft is the twin-engine setup, where two engines are mounted on either side of the fuselage or wings. This arrangement provides redundancy, meaning if one engine fails, the other can maintain flight stability and allow for a controlled descent or landing. Twin-engine aircraft are widely used in training programs for multi-engine pilots, as they require specialized skills in engine management, crosswind landings, and emergency procedures.
