Ilmailuhallinto
Ilmailuhallinto was a Finnish government agency responsible for civil aviation matters. Established in 1920 as Aeronautiska centralstyrelsen, it was renamed Ilmailuhallinto in 1945. The agency oversaw the regulation, safety, and development of civil aviation in Finland. Its responsibilities included licensing of aircraft and pilots, air traffic control, airport infrastructure development, and enforcing aviation laws and international agreements. Ilmailuhallinto played a crucial role in shaping Finland's aviation landscape and ensuring its safe and efficient operation. The agency was dissolved in 1992 as part of a governmental reorganization. Its functions were subsequently transferred to other authorities, primarily the Finnish Civil Aviation Authority (now part of Traficom). The legacy of Ilmailuhallinto is significant in the history of Finnish aviation, marking a period of substantial growth and professionalization in the sector.
