Cessna

Cessna Aircraft Company, commonly known as Cessna, is an American general aviation aircraft manufacturer based in Wichita, Kansas. It designs, manufactures, and markets a wide range of light and midsize airplanes for civil and military use, including single-engine piston aircraft, turboprops, and business jets. Since the 1990s, the Cessna brand has been part of Textron Aviation, a subsidiary of Textron.

Founded in 1927 by Clyde Cessna and others, the company became renowned for reliable, affordable aircraft and helped popularize flight training in the United States. Its best-known model, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk, first flew in 1955 and remains one of the most produced aircraft in history. The company expanded to larger fixed-gear and turboprop designs, and introduced a line of corporate jets under the Citation brand.

In 1992, Cessna was acquired by Textron (after a period as a subsidiary of General Dynamics), and operations have since been consolidated under Textron Aviation. Today, production focuses on light single- and twin-engine piston aircraft such as the 172, 182, and 206 families; turboprops such as the 208 Caravan; and the Citation line of business jets. Cessna maintains a global service network and training programs through its dealer and service centers.

Cessna aircraft are widely used by private pilots, flight schools, corporate operators, and some government agencies, reflecting the company’s long-standing role in general aviation.
