Molaarsed

Molaarsed is a term encountered in Estonian-language dental terminology. It functions as an adjective related to molar teeth and is sometimes used to refer collectively to molars in informal or older texts. In standard modern usage, the noun for the teeth is molaarid, while the adjective molaarne describes molar characteristics. The form molaarsed may appear in certain contexts to emphasize molar-related aspects, though it is less common in contemporary clinical writing.

In human dentition, molars are the large teeth at the back of the mouth used for grinding food. Adults typically have eight molars in total, arranged as first, second, and sometimes third molars (wisdom teeth) in each of the four quadrants. Maxillary molars (upper jaw) usually have three roots, whereas mandibular molars (lower jaw) typically have two. The occlusal surfaces of molars contain multiple cusps, commonly described as mesiobuccal, distobuccal, mesiolingual, and distolingual cusps on upper molars, with analogous terminology used for lower molars. While molaarsed may be encountered in some contexts, standard dental references typically use molaarid and molaarne to describe molars and their features.
