Mohrin

Mohrin is a fictional coastal city-state in the fantasy world of Eldoria, commonly used in novels and tabletop role-playing games. It lies on a sheltered harbour at the mouth of the Silverwake River, with basalt cliffs to the north and a natural breakwater to the south. The name Mohrin is believed to derive from the ancient Mohric tongue, meaning watcher of the sea.

Geography and districts: The city comprises three principal districts: the Harbor District, which houses shipyards and fish markets; the Market Quarter, where traders sell wares from inland caravans and distant ports; and the Old Quarter, containing remains of medieval walls and the Marble Gate. The terrain is largely flat, with a central ridge that hosts the Council Palace.

History: Mohrin was founded by seafarers in the early years of Eldoria’s recorded history and grew as a trading hub between inland routes and maritime networks. It endured several sieges during regional conflicts and was rebuilt after each episode. In the modern setting, Mohrin operates under a constitutional council and a rotating mayor.

Economy and culture: The economy centers on shipbuilding, timber, and seafood, complemented by textiles and glassware from nearby workshops. The city hosts the Night Lanterns festival, celebrating safe harbours and storytelling. Arts and crafts, including woodcarving and rope-making, are traditional specialties.

Notable sites: Bright Gate, Ember Lighthouse, and the Old Stone Wall are common visitations. Population is around 25,000, with humans forming the majority and smaller communities of elves and dwarves.
