Mintázatelkészítés, often translated as pattern making or pattern cutting, is the process of creating patterns for clothing, footwear, and other textile products. It involves translating two-dimensional measurements into a three-dimensional garment. The pattern maker uses a variety of tools and techniques to ensure the final product fits the intended customer and meets design specifications.

The process begins with gathering measurements from the customer or using standard sizing charts. These measurements are then transferred to a pattern template, which is a flat representation of the garment's shape. The pattern maker uses tools such as rulers, French curves, and tracing paper to adjust the template to fit the measurements accurately.

Once the template is adjusted, the pattern maker cuts out the individual pieces of the garment, such as the bodice, sleeves, and skirt. These pieces are then assembled to create the final garment. The pattern maker must consider factors such as ease (the amount of fabric added to the pattern to allow for movement), grainline (the direction of the fabric's weave), and draping (the way fabric falls and moves).
