Mikroszámítógéphez

Mikroszámítógéphez is the Hungarian word for "microcomputer". A microcomputer is a small, relatively inexpensive computer with a microprocessor as its central processing unit (CPU). Unlike large mainframes or minicomputers that served many users at once, microcomputers were designed for individual use. The term became prominent in the late 1970s and early 1980s with the advent of personal computers.

The key innovation that made microcomputers possible was the development of the microprocessor, a single integrated circuit containing the CPU. This miniaturization drastically reduced the size and cost of computers, making them accessible to a much wider audience. Early microcomputers, such as the Altair 8800, Apple II, and Commodore PET, laid the groundwork for the personal computer revolution.

These machines typically featured a keyboard for input, a monitor or TV for output, and a storage device like a cassette tape or floppy disk. They ran operating systems and various software applications, from word processors and spreadsheets to games. The rise of the microcomputer democratized computing power, moving it from specialized labs and businesses into homes and educational institutions. The evolution of microcomputers directly led to the modern personal computers we use today.
