Marnath is a fictional city-state described in fantasy literature and role-playing materials. It functions as a political and cultural center in the northern highlands of the continent of Thalorn. The city sits at the bend of the Marn River near the Silver Pass, with rolling hills and conifer forests in the surrounding countryside. The climate is temperate with cold winters.

The settlement began as a trading post that grew around a river crossing. It attained city status in the 12th century after a regional charter and its merchants linked inland markets with southern ports, establishing a long-standing commercial reputation. Marnath endured sieges during various regional conflicts and later undertook reforms that strengthened municipal governance.

Today, Marnath is governed by a city council and a mayor, operating under a constitutional charter. The economy centers on textiles, timber, and river trade, supported by a local university and several crafts guilds. The population is around 62,000, predominantly humans, with small communities of elves and dwarves. The Marnic language is spoken alongside the regional lingua franca.

Cultural life centers on the Market Festival, riverfront concerts, and a venerable library that preserves regional chronicles. Notable landmarks include the Old Gate, the Market Arcade, and the Riverside Bridge, as well as Marnath Library.
