Maktenes is a fictional federal republic in the northern archipelago of the continent of Lysara. It is composed of nine provinces and a central metropolitan region centered on the capital, Sundhaven. The name Maktenes derives from makt, an ancient root meaning power, with the suffix -enes, commonly interpreted as “the Powers” or “the Powerholders.” Maktenes operates as a parliamentary democracy with a largely ceremonial head of state and an active prime minister who leads the government.
