Maintenanceware
Maintenanceware refers to software solutions designed to streamline and automate the planning, execution, and recording of maintenance activities for equipment, facilities, or infrastructure. It is a branch of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and often overlaps with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) platforms. The primary purpose of maintenanceware is to improve asset reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize the lifecycle cost of physical assets.
The concept emerged in the early 1990s when manufacturers sought to reduce manual spreadsheets and paper logs
Benefits claimed by maintenanceware providers include improved adherence to scheduled service, increased mean time between failures,
Notable examples of maintenanceware include SAP Plant Maintenance, IBM Maximo, Infor EAM, and the open‑source OpenMAINT.
