LuismayOS

LuismayOS is an open-source operating system designed primarily for educational purposes, aiming to provide a simplified and user-friendly environment for learning about computer systems. Developed by a community of volunteers, it is built on a lightweight Linux kernel and offers a minimalist desktop interface to facilitate hands-on experience with core OS functionalities.

The project was initiated in 2018 by an individual named Luis Mayorga, who sought to create a customizable platform for teaching operating system concepts such as process management, file systems, and networking. LuismayOS is distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL), ensuring transparency and encouraging contributions from the broader developer community.

One of its key features is the inclusion of preconfigured tools for system analysis, such as `htop` for process monitoring and `net-tools` for network diagnostics. The operating system also supports a range of package managers, including `apt` for Debian-based distributions, allowing users to install additional software easily. However, it intentionally omits many modern conveniences, such as a graphical package manager or proprietary drivers, to keep the focus on foundational learning.

LuismayOS is available as a live USB image, enabling users to test it without installation.
