Longituder

Longituder is a term that can refer to two related concepts in geography and navigation. It can denote a person who specializes in determining or working with longitudinal coordinates in navigation or surveying, or it can refer to a device or instrument designed to establish, extend, or adjust measurements along lines of longitude in maps, models, or experimental setups. As a device or tool, a longituder might denote equipment that aligns, scales, or annotates data along the longitudinal axis, or a software feature that constrains features to lie along meridians for analysis or visualization. In speculative or fictional writing, the concept can be extended to include devices that manipulate or measure length along a defined longitudinal direction, independent of latitude.
