Lipbending

Lipbending refers to a variety of techniques used to alter the appearance or shape of the lips, primarily for aesthetic purposes. These methods can range from temporary cosmetic applications to more permanent surgical interventions.

Cosmetic lipbending often involves makeup. Lip liners can be used to redefine the lip border, making lips appear fuller or more precisely shaped. Various lipstick formulations and glosses can also create an illusion of volume. Overlining, where a lip liner or lipstick is applied slightly beyond the natural lip line, is a common technique for this purpose.

Beyond makeup, non-surgical cosmetic procedures are widely used for lipbending. Dermal fillers, most commonly hyaluronic acid-based, are injected into the lips to add volume, improve symmetry, and correct fine lines. These effects are temporary, typically lasting several months. Other temporary options include lip plumping glosses, which often contain ingredients that cause mild irritation, leading to temporary swelling.

Surgical lipbending procedures offer more permanent changes. Lip augmentation surgery can involve the placement of implants or fat grafting to increase lip volume. Lip lifts are surgical procedures designed to shorten the distance between the nose and the upper lip, making the upper lip appear fuller and more prominent. These procedures carry the risks associated with surgery, including infection, scarring, and anesthesia complications. The term "lipbending" itself is not a formally recognized medical or cosmetic term but encompasses these diverse approaches to lip enhancement.
