Laviks
Laviks are a breed of domestic sheep originating from the Leka municipality in Trøndelag, Norway. They are known for their distinctive appearance, typically featuring a short, wedge-shaped head, often with a Roman nose, and a lean, muscular body. Their fleece is usually coarse and can be a variety of colors, including white, black, brown, and spotted patterns. Laviks are a primitive breed, meaning they retain many characteristics of their wild ancestors, such as being naturally polled (hornless) or having scurs. They are also known for their hardiness and adaptability to harsh climates, which has contributed to their survival in the mountainous regions of Norway.
The Lavik sheep breed is thought to have developed from ancient sheep breeds brought to Norway by
