Lapsverband, often written as Lappenverband in German, is a basic wound dressing technique used in first aid and clinical care. The term translates roughly to a patch- or pad-bandage: a piece of cloth or sterile gauze (the Lappen) is placed over the wound and secured with a bandage to hold the pad in place, absorb fluids, and protect the wound from contamination.
