Lancilotto, commonly known as Lancelot, is a legendary knight of the Round Table in Arthurian legend, renowned for his unparalleled skill in combat and his tragic romantic involvement with King Arthur’s wife, Queen Guinevere. His name derives from the Old French *Lancelot du Lac*, meaning "Lancelot of the Lake," reflecting the myth that he was raised by the Lady of the Lake, a mystical figure associated with the waters of Avalon.

Born to King Ban of Benwick and Queen Elayne, Lancelot was secretly raised by the Lady of the Lake after his father’s betrayal of King Arthur.
