Laminerade

Laminerade is a Swedish adjective and past participle meaning "laminated," used to describe objects that have been joined with one or more layers of material for protection, strength or aesthetic effect. The term derives from the verb laminera (to laminate) and is applied across multiple industries where layered construction or surface coating is employed.

In manufacturing and printing, laminerade surfaces typically consist of paper or board bonded with plastic film to increase resistance to moisture, abrasion and wear; common methods include thermal lamination, cold (pressure-sensitive) lamination and encapsulation. In construction and automotive contexts, laminerade glass refers to safety glass made by bonding two or more glass panes with a polymer interlayer (often PVB), which holds fragments together on impact. Composite engineering uses laminerade layups of fibers and resins to create structural panels and components with directional strength properties.

The descriptor laminerade also appears in packaging, signage, bookbinding and archival practice to denote treated or protected items. Advantages include improved durability, enhanced appearance and, in some cases, increased safety. Environmental and conservation concerns revolve around recycling difficulties and the long-term stability of lamination films and adhesives; these issues have prompted development of recyclable or biodegradable laminates and reversible conservation techniques for cultural heritage objects.

As a term, laminerade is primarily descriptive rather than proprietary, and it is commonly used in technical specifications, product descriptions and everyday language where Swedish is spoken.
