Laataprofiilit

Laataprofiilit are edging and trim profiles used in tiling and related finishes to provide a clean edge, create transitions between different materials, and protect tile edges from damage. They are installed along perimeters, at corners, around niches, or at thresholds, and come in a range of cross sections such as L-shaped corner profiles, U- and T-shaped profiles, and flat finishing strips. They can be used with wall and floor tiles as well as with stone slabs or other panels.

Materials and finishes commonly include aluminum (often anodized or powder-coated), stainless steel, PVC, and brass. Finishes range from brushed metal to various plastics finishes, with color options designed to match or contrast with tiling and interior design.

Installation typically occurs after tiles are laid. Profiles may be bonded with tile adhesive or mortar, or fastened using dedicated mounting systems. Some profiles feature self-adhesive backing, while others require mechanical fixing. Edges are cut to length with appropriate tools, and corners are mitred for neat joints. When aligning with grout lines, it is important to ensure the profile sits flush with tile surfaces to avoid gaps or misalignment.

Variants and selection depend on tile thickness, edge function, and environment. Common considerations include matching tile thickness (often 6–12 mm), choosing corrosion-resistant materials for bathrooms or wet areas, and selecting a profile that provides both durability and the desired aesthetic. Maintenance is typically straightforward, requiring regular cleaning and avoidance of abrasive cleaners that could damage finishes.
