LIMEtyökaluts is a software toolkit designed to aid in the explainability of machine learning models. The name itself is a portmanteau of LIME, which stands for Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations, and "työkaluts," a Finnish word for tools. This implies a focus on providing understandable explanations for complex model predictions, regardless of the underlying model architecture.

The core principle behind LIMEtyökaluts is to approximate the behavior of a black-box model in the vicinity of a specific prediction. It does this by perturbing the input data and observing how the model's output changes. A simpler, interpretable model (like a linear regression or decision tree) is then trained on these perturbed data points and their corresponding predictions.
