Kulmajäykisteitä

Kulmajäykisteitä, known in English as corner braces or angle brackets, are mechanical fasteners used to reinforce the corner of two joining surfaces. They are typically L-shaped and made from metal, such as steel, aluminum, or brass, although plastic versions also exist. Their primary function is to provide structural support, increase rigidity, and prevent movement or separation at right-angle joints.

These components are commonly employed in carpentry and construction for strengthening furniture, shelving units, cabinets, frames, and various structural elements. They are attached by driving screws or nails through pre-drilled holes in the brace into both surfaces being joined. The design of a kulmajäykiste allows for the distribution of stress across the corner, making the connection more robust than a simple butt joint.

Different sizes and strengths of kulmajäykisteitä are available to suit various applications. Smaller, lighter-duty braces are used for decorative items or lightweight furniture, while heavier-duty, thicker braces are utilized in load-bearing structures.
