Kostonpërfitimet, a term often encountered in economic and business contexts, refers to the process of evaluating the costs and benefits associated with a particular decision or project. The core principle behind cost-benefit analysis is to quantify, as much as possible, both the expenses and the advantages to determine if the benefits outweigh the costs. This methodology is widely used in various fields, including government policy, project management, and investment appraisal.

The process typically begins with identifying all relevant costs, which can be direct, such as materials and labor, or indirect, like administrative overhead and opportunity costs. Similarly, all anticipated benefits are enumerated. These benefits can be tangible, such as increased revenue or reduced expenses, or intangible, such as improved customer satisfaction or enhanced brand reputation. Once identified, both costs and benefits are assigned monetary values. This step can be challenging, especially for intangible factors. Various techniques, such as shadow pricing or contingent valuation, are employed to estimate these values.

After quantifying and assigning values, a comparison is made. If the total estimated benefits exceed the total estimated costs, the decision or project is generally considered financially sound and worthy of pursuit. Conversely, if the costs are greater than the benefits, it suggests that the undertaking may not be economically viable. Cost-benefit analysis helps decision-makers make more informed choices by providing a structured framework for assessing the overall value of an action, thereby optimizing resource allocation and maximizing positive outcomes.
