Korkeaastia

Korkeaastia, commonly known as the Finnish word for "high table" or "upper table," refers to a traditional dining practice in Finland where the most honored guests are seated at an elevated table, often in a prominent position within a room. This custom is rooted in historical Finnish and Nordic dining etiquette, where social hierarchy and respect for guests were paramount.

The concept of korkeaastia was particularly significant during formal gatherings, such as weddings, official receptions, or visits from dignitaries.
